Book launch of ‘DAVID TRIMBLE: Peacemaker’
An evening with Stephen Walker and David Kerr
Tuesday 21 October
A unique evening of conversation to mark the publication of ‘David Trimble: Peacemaker’ written by Stephen Walker.
As Upper Bann MP, David Trimble was First Minister and a Nobel Laureate. He negotiated the Good Friday Agreement in 1998 and helped to secure peace in Northern Ireland. He later sat in the House of Lords as Lord Trimble.
In this revealing biography, award winning journalist Stephen Walker details how this former academic helped to change the political landscape and make history.
Written with the cooperation of the Trimble family, ‘David Trimble; Peacemaker’, published by Gill Books, is based on 100 new interviews.
Described by the Irish Times as ‘a political page turner’, it is the companion book to ‘John Hume: The Persuader’, Stephen Walker’s bestselling biography of the Nobel Laureate John Hume.
Stephen Walker covered political events in Northern Ireland for over 30 years as a BBC reporter and correspondent.
From County Fermanagh, David Kerr was a Special Advisor and Press Secretary to David Trimble between 1996 – 2002. He had a ringside view of major political events.
This promises to be a fascinating evening of political insight and humour.
